Co's Letter in NS.sg

To: Officers, Warrant Officer, Specialists and men of 682 SIR

682 SIR 6th ICT (24 Apr – 10 May 08)

Welcome to the 6th year ICT for 682 SIR.

In the coming ICT, we are going for ATEC Stage 1 evaluation. The evaluation comprises 4 main areas: Knowledge theory test involving commanders (10%), basic skills (16%), weaponry handling (24%) and battle courses (50%).

There is only ONE goal for the ATEC Stage 1: REDCON 1.
This is a realistic target, that as a COHESIVE and COMMITTED Bn, we can achieve .

With this in mind, the training program has been planned to prepare and equip the Bn to achieve this target. We will start with 2 days of commanders' training on 24-25 Apr. From 28 Apr, we will build up from training on basic skills and weaponry handling, to platoon battle courses and block missions. The ATEC evaluation itself will be held on 7-9 May.

While the focus is on ATEC stage 1, there are also many areas that I want to address:

1) IPPT. We will conduct two IPPTs during the ICT. All who have not passed must take the tests. Those who defaulted IPPT will be charged. Beyond financial penalties, those who had defaulted more than 3 years will be sent to Detention Barracks.

2) Management of poor performance. In the coming year, ITI will execute its system to manage poor performers: those who either miss the key activities, or hold poor attitude. SAF will issue a dedicated Make-Up Training for these group of people, conducted by ITI.

3) Deferment. All deferment cases should be cleared before the ICT proper. You should put up for deferment via the NSSC. I have allocated on 23 Apr afternoon to listen to appeals. You can arrange with NS HRC at Tel: 64104334.

Finally, get yourself physically prepared and mentally ready.
As a COHESIVE and COMMITTED Bn, we can achieve the target set out for the coming ICT.
Looking forward to see you.

Yours sincerely,
MAJ (NS) Loh Chee Kin

Don't make plans for this coming Saturday.

I will be very general for this post cos of security issues.

If nothing happens by 2pm, we are safe. If something happens, we might need to "everything on" until the wee-hours of Sunday morning.

Also, try not to drive there, cos we will definitely have to go somewhere else if we "everything on". i.e, we will have to go to another place to "everything on", after which we will be dismissed from there. And there will be no transport back to the place where we gather initially. So.

There will be feeder buses from Yew Tee mrt station to our gathering place. You can make use of that.

Also, go get your uniform done up correctly. I am talking about the SINGAPORE tag, the new name tag, the infantry collar badge, and the 3rd Div badge also. It's a fucking chore, but it is a requirement. Don't have any? Go to Beach road.

I am assuming all commanders are reading this blog, hence you will be responsible for pumping down this information to your men.

Anyway, I have permanently disabled comments in this blog.

For any enquiries and feedback, you can reach me at 94484081.

Alignment of objectives

Hi all,

Thank you for your participation in this blog. From what I have gathered so far, we have at least 1 reader who is pretty vocal. I seriously hope it has been more than 1 fella leaving his comments here if not it'll be a pretty scary thing (I hope you get my point).

To clarify, I have not posted any comments in the last entry.

Anyway I pretty much got what you were trying to say. Will keep them in mind. Thanks.

Let's restate the objectives of this blog.

1. To provide updates of ICT related affairs.

2. To organise gatherings (Sending invites for wedding dinners, house warmings, baby's birthdays etc)

3. To let everyone have a voice.

So far, Objective 1 and 3 have been achieved. Good to see that. I allowed anonymous comments from the beginning so that one can feel free to speak his mind from behind his computer screen without having to identify himself and thus not having to be held responsible for them. Great to see that this feature has been fully utilised!

Anyway, I will be posting up our time-table for this coming ICT, as well as some preparations that will be helpful.

See ya!
